About Me

With a solid background of datawarehousing in SAP and writing reports using BOBJ tools for several years, datavisualization came to me very easily. I fell in love with Tableau immediately because of how flexible the tool is and how high its limits are. It is rapidly getting better day by day. Other than datavisualisation I take data cleansing and blending very seriously and have been using Alteryx for a while. It goes very well with Tableau. I intend to write a short blog on how Alteryx is a good blending tool for Tableau.

Besides my workplace, the internet and Twitter have been a great source of learning and with this blog I intend to give back to the community. My Tableau Public gallery is open to public to download the workbooks and then one can reverse-engineer the dashboards. Also please feel free to ask me any questions on how to do it (in Tableau).

Over the years I have become very passionate about data visualisation, and, apart from working in it for real world scenarios, I have been reading books to improve my dashboard design skills continuously. To name a few: Cole Nussbaumer Knafflic’s Story Telling with Data, Show me the Numbers by Stephen Phew, Big book of Dashboards by Steve, Jeffrey and Andy.

Apart from dataviz, etl tools and learning new techniques to improve and optimise building dashboards, I like running, cooking and have recently taken an interest in gardening.

I don’t believe data visualisation to be a very easy skill to acquire, but anybody can acquire it with proper training, determination, and most importantly, being open to feedback on their viz. May it be from your boss, colleague or the target audience.
